About me
I am a doctoral candidate in the Neag School of Education at UConn. Having earned my BA and MS in Mathematics from Westfield State University and the University of Mississippi respectively, and 6th Year in Educational Leadership from UConn, I am passionate about ensuring that Black students have access to a high-quality mathematical education. Prior to pursuing my Ph.D. in Secondary Mathematics Education, I devoted nearly 20 years in education as an administrator, teacher, and mentor in public and private schools across the country. My research interests include organizational policies in secondary schools that promote success for Black learners of mathematics, developing equity-minded mathematics educators, and empowering mathematics students through Hip-Hop pedagogy.
