Hip-Hop culture often is not associated with a high-quality educational experience for students. Yet, research has shown that using cultural experiences and perspectives of diverse students can teach them more effectively. Hip-Hop Based Education (HHBE) has proven to increase engagement, achievement, and classroom community. This interactive workshop focuses on ways to use HHBE as an alternative approach where honoring Hip-Hop culture and mastering mathematical concepts coexist in classrooms.
